Getting Started with TextMate AI

1. Create an account

Go to Sign up and create a free account — no credit card required. You can start chatting immediately on the Free plan.

2. Send your first message

Open a new chat and type a message. TextMate AI defaults to Mistral Large, a balanced, general-purpose model with a 262K context window.

3. Pick a model (optional)

Every chat has a model picker. Free accounts can choose between Mistral Large (default) and GPT-OSS 20B (lighter/faster). Five more models — DeepSeek V3.1, GLM 4.7, Llama 3.3 70B, Nemotron 3 Ultra, and Google Gemma 4 31B — are available on Pro. See Which Model Should You Use? for a full breakdown.

4. Know your usage limits

TextMate AI uses a rolling 4-hour token window rather than a daily reset: 500,000 tokens per window on Free, 1,000,000 on Pro. See Understanding Usage Limits & Plans for details.

5. Connect Google services (optional)

From Settings → Connectors, you can connect Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar so the assistant can act on requests like summarizing your inbox or checking your schedule. See Connecting Google Workspace.

6. Long-term memory

TextMate AI remembers context from earlier conversations (backed by Supabase), so you don't need to re-explain background information every session.
